ABOUT THE ORIGINAL SURF HOTEL OF PUERTO VIEJO
Hotel Puerto Viejo is one of the oldest surf hotel/hostels in Puerto Viejo and has become a landmark after years of hosting travelers from around the World. Located in the center of town, Hotel Puerto Viejo is within walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops and the beach including the renowned Salsa Brava. We have a variety of room types such as private rooms with private bathrooms, private rooms with shared bathrooms as well as shared rooms; bringing options for guests with a variety of needs and budgets. The property is very spacious. There is plenty of room to lounge or work, we offer access to a community kitchen, and a garden that welcomes guests to lay in the sun, exercise or set up BBQs. Of course, there are showers and bathrooms located throughout the hotel available to any guest. The hotel boasts a total of 65 rooms in many different configurations ranging from shared dorm rooms to private rooms with bathrooms. Some of the unique rooms we have are female only dorm rooms, a private matrimonial with two singles (great for families), and rooms with three single beds (great for friends traveling together). Hotel Puerto Viejo has a well known bar situated in the lobby of the hotel. We have a vast cocktail menu, fresh juices, local and specialty beers and more. Puerto Viejo is a bustling beach town, full of travelers, surfers and people looking to enjoy life to its fullest. The area has incredible waterfalls and national parks to visit as well as a number of stunning beaches. The town is very active with its nightlife, there are regular parties and a variety of bars and restaurants. There are locations for boxing, yoga, acupuncture, massage and more. There are plenty of activities to take part in such as kayak tours, ATV tours, and snorkeling.

Hotel Puerto Viejo is located in the center of town and an easy walk to most bars and restaurants. However, a better option to access some local beaches would be to rent a bike or a motorcycle. Hotel Puerto Viejo is home to it's very own BATO Restaurant an Asian Gastropub serving up a variety of Asian style mash-ups. Some of the favorites include ramen (both pork or tofu options), our signature Tokyo Burger (double smash burger on a brioche bun topped with tempura fried onion string and Terriyaki sauce, crispy fried gyoza, spring rolls wrapped in lettuce and mint, and many more great options. We offer some great vegan options as well! And always attempt to accommodate large groups or special events.

We have become known for some of the largest and most exciting events in the town. We have a wide variety of events including Psy-Dance nights with Kiran a local psytrance DJ from Germany. Moon Vibes offers organic electronic music from Berlin DJ La Macha and a special guest every Saturday. Karaoke/ Ladies Night/ Beer Pong night happens every thursday with our wonderful and talented host Bubby. Mondays are Wolaba Sessions/ Reggae Nights with a weekly event hosted by DJ Chris sometimes featuring special guests. Every Sunday we bring the local musicians of the town together with Hotel Puerto Viejo Jam Sessions that can go all night, the impov will blow your mind.

We try to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Do not hesitate to ask us for help with anything. However, we have a shared kitchen set up for you to use. A great area to socialize with some other guests and travelers. A large garden is accessible to lounge, sunbathe, bbq and more. If you're looking for a place to sit and work, our lobby offers plenty of seats, tables and sofas to lounge and work on.
